I'm getting asnwer as 100%. Please let me know where am I making mistake?
A = 120B / 100 = 60C/100
B= 100A/120
C= 100A/60
The percentage by which B got less than C
= C-B/B *100
= [100A/60 - 100A/120] / [100A/120] *100
= [100A/120] / [100A/120] *100
= 1 *100
= 100%

First thing first see my chapter about % where I explained the concepts extensively.

They key here is to start from C which I do not know and therefore we can label as 100
C=100
Then
A got 20% more than B,
\(A=1.2B\)
but 40% less than C.
\(A=0.6C\)
Substitute to find B
\(0.6C=1.2B\)
\(C=100\)
\(0.6*100=1.2B\)
\(\frac{60}{1.2}=B\)
\(B = 50\)
