\(120ml\) mixture with \(40\)% chemical \(X\)
So \(48ml\) chemical \(X \)and \(72ml\) water
Some part is removed. Let's say \(A\) \(ml\) is taken away and the same amount of water is added.
In \(A\), there will be \(0.4A\) chemical X and \(0.6A\) water
Chemical X left after replacement \(= 48 - 0.4A\)
When the same amount of water is added, there was \(10\)% of chemical \(X\)
So, from \(120ml, 10\)% \(= 12\)ml of chemical \(X\)
\(48 - 0.4A = 12\)
\(36 = 0.4A\)
\(A = 90 ml\)
Answer 90
