Here is a summary of some of the less usual, but quite useful, techniques I saw presented in the solutions above:

Triangle Tips
1) Look for hints
. like the 60, as Brent pointed out that should make us look to find a 60 30 90 triangle, or in this case make one
2) Consider drawing new lines
. in this problem they showed you can draw in lines to make smaller triangles which we could use to help solve the problem
3) Zoom out
. after drawing new lines, you may also want to zoom out and look for larger triangles created by your new triangles
. for example, the step where it was shown that ∠ECB = ∠EBC = 30° and therefore CBE is an isosceles triangle
. I was so focused on the small triangles, I hadn't thought about looking at it from a bigger perspective

My own hint. If it looks like it will be complicated, draw big. I tried this problem with a small drawing, and found it hard to fit everything in and keep track of everything.

No. it could.

After all it does not require so many steps or calculations. Just a sequence of inferences
