The random variable x has the following continuous probabil

Sorry, I went through the thread but I still don't understand what is happening. My main doubts are- 1. Option C and E are literally the same so is this some typo or is this intentionally there and we have to choose C for some reason. Could someone please explain this further? 2. The median point should be 1/√2? The way I arrived at this was: a) Draw an altitude from the origin to the Hypotenuse and since the total length of it is 2 (calculated using distance formula), it would be divided in two equal parts of 1 ( I am unable to share the attachment because of forum's rules). So, using 45-45-90 rule we would find out the length of the altitude to be 1 then again we draw an altitude to the x-axis where previous altitude becomes the side of the new Isosceles triangle and after doing some calculations we would get √2/2 as the length on x-axis for the 50% value.
Where am I going wrong here? I don't get it because I can write 1/√2 as √2^-1 but I am confused with 2 similar options here and explanations given by other members here that don't match with my reasoning. Please help me. Thanks!

Triangle ABC must have an area of 1/2. So what must be the length of each of its legs, AB and BC? From the formula 1/2bh = 1/2, and noting that the base BC equals the height AB, the base BC must be 1 (the same as the height). Since the coordinates of point C are (\sqrt{2} , 0), the coordinates of point B must be (\sqrt{2} – 1, 0). That is, the median is \sqrt{2}– 1.
