Re: Jessie looks in her closet to pick one of her 30 shirts to wear. She h [#permalink]

let me explain it in simple terms.

For the first part we have to find the minimum number of woven shirts that are not yellow or green, so what we can do is maximize the number of shirts that are woven and are of the color yellow or green. That means we have 16 shirts that are yellow and green(10+6) and are woven; now we have total number of woven shirts as 16, so MINIMUM NUMBER OF SHIRTS THAT ARE WOVEN AND NOT OF THE COLOR GREEN AND YELLOW CAN BE 0.

For the second part we're not given any condition so let's try to find the minimum end of the spectrum. Total number of red+yellow+white shirts are 13 now let's suppose all of these are knit, that still leaves us with 1 shirt that is of any other color and is knit.

now the maximum end could be 14 shirts that are not of the color red+yellow+white and are knit.

NOW IT'S CONCLUSIVE THAT IN ANY CASE QUANTITY B WILL ALWAYS BE LARGER THAN QUANTITY A.
Hence Option B
