Assuming that the "$" signs are a typo -
The least possible value of x that satisfies the inequality is -8
Since x+y = -4, when x = -8, y = 4
When x = - 8 and y = 4, xy = (-8)(4) = -32
The greatest possible value of x that satisfies the inequality is 10
Since x+y = -4, when x = 10, y = -14
When x = 1- and y = -14, xy = (10)(-14) = -140
Thus, the least possible value of xy = -140.
The least possible value of x that satisfies the inequality is -8
Since x+y = -4, when x = -8, y = 4
When x = - 8 and y = 4, xy = (-8)(4) = -32
The greatest possible value of x that satisfies the inequality is 10
Since x+y = -4, when x = 10, y = -14
When x = 1- and y = -14, xy = (10)(-14) = -140
Thus, the least possible value of xy = -140.
