An ice-skating rink charges $\(\$ 6\)$ for admission. It costs $\(\$ 4\)$ per day to rent the ice-skates and $\(\$ 36\)$ to buy them. What is the minimum number of times the ice-skates should be used in order to make the cost of buying the skates less than renting them?

The cost of rentinganice-skatesis $\$ 4$ per day. The cost of buying new ice-skates is $\$ 36$. If the skates are used 9 times, the expense occurred by renting or buying is the same (since the rent for 9 days $=9 \times 4=36$ ). Hence, if the ice-skates are used more than 9 times, the rent will be more than the cost of buying the skates. Thus, the correct answer is 10 .
