On a square map one inch is equal to 4/3 miles. If the map covers 64 square miles, then what is the perimeter of the map in inches?
(A) 6 inches
(B) 8 inches
(C) 16 inches
(D) 24 inches
(E) 32 inches
Kudos for correct solution.
Here it is about the SQUARE map.
So each side of the sq map =\(\sqrt{64}\)(in square, Area = side^2)
= 8 miles
Since \(1 inch =\frac{4}{3}\) miles,
Therefore \(8 miles=\frac{3}{4}*8= 6 inch\)
Therefore perimeter of square map in inch = 4*side = 4*6 =24 inch
