Carcassplease evaluate my essay
Prompt : According to a recent report from our marketing department,
during the past year, fewer people attended Super
Screen-produced movies than in any other year. And yet the
percentage of positive reviews by movie reviewers about
specific Super Screen movies actually increased during the past
year. Clearly, the contents of these reviews are not reaching
enough of our prospective viewers. Thus, the problem lies not
with the quality of our movies but with the public's lack of
awareness that movies of good quality are available. Super
Screen should therefore allocate a greater share of its budget
next year to reaching the public through advertising.
Write a response in which you discuss what questions
would need to be answered in order to decide whether the
recommendation and the argument on which it is based are
reasonable. Be sure to explain how the answers to these
questions would help to evaluate the recommendation.
Advertisements have always been the means to promote a product or a service. It is a way to people know that a certain product or a service exists which meets their needs. It gives the exposure that a certain product or a service needs to make sales from. From the given argument, we can deduce that the movies of the past year had more quality than any other year, the reviews have proved that fact. But nonetheless the viewership has dropped and it could be due to the fact that the viewers got an bad opinion on the movies aired in the other year which made the viewers believe that the past year movies will also wont be any better but surprisingly that wasn't the case and hence they the movies got better review. I do agree that the lack of public's awareness of the availability of good quality movies and by allocating a greater budget to advertising the movies will make the public aware of such movies, but there's more to just advertising a movie.
An example for this could understood from the recent increase in electric vehicle sales. Two decades ago the electric vehicles weren't as popular as they are today. The fault doesn't lie in their quality but rather in their exposure towards the public. People had no idea that electric vehicles exist and they run much smoother than the traditional Internal Combustion Engine vehicles and produce little to no emissions, saving the environment from the deadly effects of fossil fuels. It is through Advertising, the electric vehicles have gained popularity steadily over the year. Also the car enthusiasts claimed the electric vehicles lack power and are simply unreliable due to the fact that the parts are sensitive to heat and moisture. Advertising Electric vehicles on news papers and via digital advertisement has made the public realise that electric cars exist and are better than Internal Combustion Engine vehicles. A good example of this is Elon musk demonstrating the capabilities of Tesla Cyber Truck displaying its power and it's durability. But the testing of it's capabilities but youtubers says otherwise. The capabilities of the cyber truck displayed in the real testing situations have revealed that the truck actually performs worse than it was advertised and also the body showed signs of rust which is definitely not an indicator of a good product, leading to people having doubts on the quality of the truck.
Although, Advertising is a good approach for attracting the consumers, it is worth noting that the word of mouth also has a strong impact on the sales of a product. Since it's passed on due to the fact that a customer has experienced the effectiveness of the product and therefore it is very important to maintain the quality of the product that the customer has purchased. Advertisement plays the role of reaching to people but it's wont ensure that a the displayed product will generate profits. Quality matters more. Take the example of vehicles manufactured by Toyota. It is said that Toyota vehicles are indestructible and can last more than 500,000 miles. Toyota has indeed advertised that their vehicles are indestructible and last really long and they actually do as it was made known to public by the word of mouth. People make memes on how durable the Toyota vehicles are which further strengthens their claims.
My final verdict on the argument is that Advertisement one hand is indeed necessary to reach the masses but it is not a one stop solution for the for generating profits. The word of mouth plays a crucial role in forming an opinion on a product and the decision weather to buy it or not, and it could be made possible if the product or the service advertised actually meets the expectations that the public who were made aware of it.
