Here it might help to draw a picture to visualize. The surface area of a square cube is the area of one of the sides multiplied by six. Here we know the cube of cheese has a side length of 2 inches.
The surface area is $\(2 \times 2 \times 6=24\)$.
When the cube is cut into 2 equal pieces, it makes two rectangular blocks. Four of the sides of each block will have the dimensions 1 $\(\times 2\)$, and two of the sides will have the dimension $\(2 \times 2\)$.
The new total surface area will be 32 , since cutting the block in half creates two new surfaces, each with the dimension $\(2 \times 2\)$.
Only the two new surfaces will have no rind on them, and to find their total we merely add the areas of those sides: $\(4+4=8\)$.

\(\frac{8}{32}=\frac{1}{4}=25\) %
$$
Column B is larger, therefore the correct answer is (B).
