Let Allen’s weight be A.
Dimitri weighs x more than Allen, so Dimitri’s weight is A+x.
Together they weigh y:
A+(A+x)=y
Simplify:
2A+x=y
Solve for A:
2A=y−x
\(A=\frac{y−x}{2}\)
Allen’s weight is:
\(\frac{y−x}{2}\)
Answer: C
