Easiest way to solve:
Start with the ratio 1:3 (boys:girls). That means there are more girls than boys.
Now add the same number of boys and girls.
This helps the smaller group (boys) more because adding equal amounts reduces the gap between them
For example:
Boys = 1
Girls = 3
Add 1 to both:
Boys = 2
Girls = 4
New ratio = 2/4=1/2
Compare:
Old ratio = 1/3
New ratio = 1/2
Clearly:
1/2 > 1/3
Answer: A
