GIVEN: \(\frac{x}{y} < 0\)
This tells us that one value (\(x\) or\( y\)) is positive and the other value is negative, which means \(xy\) must be negative.
In other words, Quantity B must be negative
GIVEN: \(y > x\)
Subtract x from both sides to get: \(y - x > 0\)
In other words, Quantity A must be positive
Answer: A

Since \(\frac{x}{y}<0\), it must be that x or y are less than zero. Then, given that y > x, y is the positive number, while x is the negative one.
Then, quantity A is positive, while quantity B is negative. Quantity A is greater!
Then, quantity A is positive, while quantity B is negative. Quantity A is greater!
