Students should avoid using the onscreen calculator for this one. Instead, we can find the percents in our head.
40 % of 50
10% of 50 = 5
So, 20% of 50 = 10
And 40% of 50 = 20
60 % of 50
10% of 50 = 5
50% of 50 = 25
So, 60% of 50 = 5 + 25 = 30
Given:
Quantity A: (40 % of 50) + 60
Quantity B: (60 % of 50) + 40
So, from our earlier calculations, we get:
Quantity A: (20) + 60
Quantity B: (30) + 40
Evaluate to get
Quantity A: 80
Quantity B: 70
Answer: A
