stefan received $432.00 to do job at his regular hourly rate . however, the job took 3 hours more than he had estimated and as a result, he earned 2.00 less than hour. How long did it take stefan to complete the job?
A. 16 hours
B.18 hours
C. 24 hours
D.27 hours
E. 36 hours
I think one data is missing in this question. I am assuming that by " he earned 2.00 less than hour" you mean he earned less than his hourly rate by $2
Here we have two variables
x = number of hours Stefan usually requires for a job
y = his usual hourly wage
Now from first part we know
\(x * y\) = \($432\) ........................... (i)
and in the new job he took three hours more and made $2 per hour less
\((x +3) * (y -2)\)= \($ ??\) .................. (ii)
Here we have an incomplete second equation. Hence we cannot solve for x and y. or number of hours he usually takes or his hourly wage.
