The information can be translated into numbers as \([1-(\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{5}+\frac{1}{10})]x = 25,000\). Solving we get \(\frac{1}{5}x = 25,000\) and x = 125,000, the total amount of the portfolio.

We can let the total investment = n and create the following equation:
(1/2)n + (1/5)n + (1/10)n + 25,000 = n
Multiplying the equation by 10, we have:
5n + 2n + n + 250,000 = 10n
250,000 = 2n
125,000 = n
Answer: B
