x+y = 8
y-x = -2
On adding both the equations,
x+y+y-x = 8 + (-2)
2y = 6
y=3
Hence B.
If questions asks for x,
Substituting y in equation 1,
x+y = 8
x+3 =8
x=8-3
x=5
y-x = -2
On adding both the equations,
x+y+y-x = 8 + (-2)
2y = 6
y=3
