We need a set of \(5\) consecutive even integer so chose something easy to work with
For eg. \(0,2,4,6,8\)
\(8-0 = 8\)
option D
Another approach,
If \(x\) is the smallest integer than the remaining four integers are
\(x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8\)
Hence, largest - smallest \(= x+8 -x = 8\)
For eg. \(0,2,4,6,8\)
\(8-0 = 8\)

We can let the first even integer = 2 and the last even integer = 10, so the difference between the greatest and least is 8. This difference holds no matter which 5 consecutive even integers are chosen.
Answer: D
