Top materials to study for the verbal section of the GRE?

I took the kaplan online course and felt that the question structure on the verbal section - specifically text completion - are a lot different that that of the actual test. For text completion and sentence completion, I feel that the Kaplan materials focus more on the complex words as opposed to complex sentence structure as seen on the actual GRE exam. In essence, I feel that the Kaplan materials prepare you for nothing more than an average score. Can anyone corroborate this? I need better study materials in order to improve my verbal score. Please provide suggestions.

Your feeling is right. I can confirm this, even though their material is pretty good.
In general, all prep companies provided what is a copycat of the real questions are. They are good for practice and to develop your skills, but then is up to you hit a high score thanks to your forging skills. There is no shortcut to this.
MGRE is pretty good on the verbal side but it relies too much on vocabulary in my opinion and not to teach the overall meaning of the sentence. A sort of understated feeling of what is going on unfolding the sentence.
For instance our test is pretty good at verbal. Give it a try and let me know.
