Here we can quickly find an answer, which would help during the actual test.
Let y = -1, so we get a negative and a positive term on the left side.
Then test x with a very large positive and a very large negative value:
x = 1000:
|1000|(-1) + 9 < 0
True
x = -1000
|-1000|(-1) + 9 < 0
True.
So x can be bigger or smaller than -9. So the answer is D.

Just like some questions where values like -1 , 0 , 1 can be used to solve, can very large positive and negative numbers be used like you mentioned above in similar questions, because this looks a fast and easy way
