We can solve this question using matching operations
Given:
Quantity A: x^3 + 1
Quantity B: x^4 + 1
Subtract 1 from both quantities to get:
Quantity A: x^3
Quantity B: x^4
Since x is POSITIVE, we know that x^3 is POSITIVE.
So, we can safely divide both quantities by x^3 to get:
Quantity A: 1
Quantity B: x
We know that x > 0.
This means x COULD equal 8, in which case, Quantity B is greater
Or x COULD equal 0.5, in which case, Quantity A is greater
x COULD also equal 1, in which case, the quantities are equal
Answer: D
