There are n people in a room. One-third of them leave the room.
If 1/3 LEAVE the room, then 2/3 of the people REMAIN in the room.
So, (2/3)n = the number of people REMAINING in the room
Four people enter the room.
So, (2/3)n + 4 = the number of people now in the room
There are now 5/6 of the original number of people in the room.
In other words, (2/3)n + 4 = (5/6)n
Multiply both sides by 6 to get: 4n + 24 = 5n
Solve: n = 24
We get:
Quantity A: 24
Quantity B: 20
Answer: A
