The perimeter of a square with a side of length S is equal to the circumference of a circle. In terms of S, what is the area of the circle?
Two ways
(I). Geometric
Perimeter of square = 4S = 2π∗r..........r=2Sπ....Area=π∗r2=π(2Sπ)2=4S2π
(II) take S as π
so perimeter = 4π=circumference = 2π∗r=4π.....r=2.......Area=π∗r2=4π
check choices
A. S44π......π44π=π3/4...no
B. s2π.....π2π=π...no
C. 4s2π2.....4π2π2=4....no
D. 4s2π.......4π2π=4π...yes
E. 4sπ.........4ππ=4....no
