A fair, six-sided die is rolled three times. What is the probability that the result of exactly one of the rolls will be an even number?
a. 0.167
B. 0.250
C. 0.333
D. 0.375
E. 0.500
Total ways of throwing 6*6*6 ways..
A die has three even and three odd ... 3*3*3
And even can be any one of the three so choose one out of three in 3C1 ways..
Total 3C1*3*3*3
Probability = \(\frac{3*3*3*3}{6*6*6}=\frac{3}{8}=3*0.125=0.375\)
OR
Probability of even in one throw is 1/2 ..
So two odd and one even will be 1/2*1/2*1/2=1/8
But even can be any of the three dice so 3C1=3
Answer 3*1/8=3*0.125=0.375
