a7 = a6 - 7 = a5 - 17 = a4 -21 = a3 - 28 = a2 - 35 = a1 - 42
a7 = a1 -42
7 = a1 -42
a1 = 49

If you plug 7 in to solve for the 6th value in the sequence, you'll quickly start to see that with each decreasing number in the sequence, you're just adding 7 again and again.

If the values are becoming more positive and higher as you move from the 7th value to the 6th, 5th, 4th, etc., then the first value in the sequence is going to be greater than -35. You never dip into the negative numbers. So, the answer is A

It can get tricky if you subtract instead of adding. If you did that, you might end up getting answer C, which is incorrect. So, watch your signs ;)
