We can solve this question using matching operations
Given:
Quantity A: -y³/2
Quantity B: y²/2
Multiply both sides by 2 to get:
Quantity A: -y³
Quantity B: y²
Since y² is POSITIVE, we can safely divide both quantities by y² to get:
Quantity A: -y
Quantity B: 1
So, if y = -1, then the two quantities are EQUAL
If y = 2, then quantity B is GREATER
If y = -2, then quantity A is GREATER
Answer: D
