It took me 3:34 to solve this question using the foil method. Is there a faster way to solve it?

You could try picking numbers for x and y (both have to be of the same sign either both positive or both negative).

However the foil method is a bit straightforward for the left part (2x - y) (x + 4y)

2x * x + 2x*4y - y*x - y*4y

Re arranged 2x^2 + 8xy - xy - 4y^2

Then it becomes 2x^2 + 7xy - 4y^2

Both quantities have 2x^2 and - 4y^2 so we can take that out ans then base our comparison between 7xy and 8xy.

We know xy > 0

So it becomes 8 > 7.

Answer choice B
