The average (arithmetic mean) of x and y is 55
So, (x + y)/2 = 55
Multiply both sides by 2 to get: x + y = 110
The average of y and z is 75.
So, (z + y)/2 = 75
Multiply both sides by 2 to get: z + y = 150
We have:
z + y = 150
x + y = 110
Subtract the bottom equation from the top equation to get: z - x = 40
So, we have:
QUANTITY A: 40
QUANTITY B: 40
Answer: C
