A. The quantity in Column A is greater
B. The quantity in Column B is greater
C. The two quantities are equal
D. The relationship cannot be determined from the information given
The moment you see that x<-1 and the denominator is x+5, you should realize that x+5 can be both positive, when x>-5 and negative when x<-5... so answer would differ in each case..
let x = -2..
A=\((\frac{1}{x+5})^5=(\frac{1}{-2+5})^5=(\frac{1}{3})^5=\frac{1}{243}\)...
B=\((\frac{1}{x+5})^3=(\frac{1}{-2+5})^3=(\frac{1}{3})^3=\frac{1}{27}\)
so B>A
let x = -6..
A=\((\frac{1}{x+5})^5=(\frac{1}{-6+5})^5=(\frac{1}{-1})^5=-1\)...
B=\((\frac{1}{x+5})^3=(\frac{1}{-6+5})^3=(\frac{1}{-1})^3=-1\)
so B=A
Thus relation cannot be determined....
D
