If from 1996 to 2000 the percent increase in total exports to Eastern Europe was the same as the percent increase from 1993 to 1996, and the percent of exports from the European Union remained the same as in 1996, to the nearest billion, what was the value, in dollars, of exports from the European Union to Eastern Europe in 2000?

Usually in such questions ball parking would be a better approach however this is a numeric entry question and so try to work with the exact information given to reach the closest approximation to the right answer.
First of all find the % increase from 2003 to 2006.
Which is \(\frac{174 - 98}{98} * 100 = 77.55%\)
Now if we increase the 2006 exports amount by 77.55% we get \(174*1.7755 = 308.937\)
In 1993 % of exports from European Union was 64%
Hence if the % of exports from European Union remained the same for 2000 the export amount would be \(\frac{64}{100} * 308.937 = 197.71\) approx. 198.
First of all find the % increase from 2003 to 2006.
Which is \(\frac{174 - 98}{98} * 100 = 77.55%\)
Now if we increase the 2006 exports amount by 77.55% we get \(174*1.7755 = 308.937\)
