If it takes Nathan 4 hours to unload a moving truck and it takes Iris 2 hours longer than Nathan to unload a moving truck, how long would it take the two of them, working together, to unload 2 moving trucks?
A. 5 hours
B. 4 hours, 48 minutes
C. 4 hours
D. 2 hours 24 minutes
E. 2 hours
If a person can finish a job in \(X\) hours while another person can finish it in \(Y\) hours, they both can finish the same job (working together) in \(\frac{XY}{(X + Y)}\)
Nathan takes \(4\) hours
Iris takes \((4 + 2) = 6\) hours
Together = \(\frac{(4)(6)}{(4 + 6)} = \frac{24}{10} = 2.4\) hours
So, for \(2\) trucks, they will require = \(4.8\) hours
i.e. \(4\) hours and \(48\) minutes
Hence, option B
