Can someone comment the use of objective in the first blank? If we are using the term brief summary, it surely could be objective too and even so contrast with redundant. Could someone comment?

Objective could be, sure, for a survey. However, The survey is brief, which means it is comprehensive. It provides all the necessary information.

On the other side, even though is clear, in providing longer assessments, then it becomes redundant.

Hope now is more clear to you.

The brief survey, published under the title The Work of Nature: How the Diversity of Life Sustains Us, is surprisingly (i)________. Indeed it makes several longer treatments of the effects of lost biodiversity seem (ii)________.

The "brief" survey is described as being surprisingly ___________.

The word surprisingly implies the unexpected, so comprehensive is the correct choice, since one does not expect a brief survey to be comprehensive.

A brief survey can be distorted or objective, nothing unexpected about it.

Now this comprehensive survey makes several longer treatments seem __________. What word can we fill in the blank? Since this survey is comprehensive - it can only make the other longer surveys seem redundant.Especially since, the other options do not make sense.

The longer surveys cannot be pithy because there is no evidence for the language or style of writing. Pithy means "of language or style that is terse and vigorously expressive.

It is not clear how the latest longer surveys make the earlier ones premature. There is no evidence for the same.

For the purpose of clarity
1.First blanks proof is in the word BRIEF, which is then contrasted with the word surprisingly so COMPREHENSIVE fits
2.Second blank's proof we get from the context in first sentence i.e our book 1(in sentence 1) is brief and comprehensive, second sentence compares other books on the same subject with book 1 and says that any other book which is longer seems REDUNTANT because book 1 presents info in brief and comprehensive manner

The second blank should be Pithy. Pithy means, according to combridge dictionary, expressing an idea cleverly in a few words.

No

It means interventions to counteract the negative effects we are disrupting biodiversity

Then, why are we comparing it with a " brief " survey?

I didn't understand the relationship we built between the "brief" survey and the "longer" treatment's effects?

This is a classic GRE sentence using the colon. I will explain this strategy in my forthcoming guide.

When a sentence uses a colon, there is always a balance between what comes before the colo and what after

The brief survey, published under the title The Work of Nature:

The short survey was published somewhere. so far so good

How the Diversity of Life Sustains Us,

The title of the survey

is surprisingly (i)________.

We have a surprise: was it any good or bad? What is our surprise?

A is impossible because a survey expresses the opinion of those interviewed: distorted is not the case. B or C. will see next.

Indeed it makes several longer treatments of the effects of lost biodiversity seem (ii)________.

in the end, the survey says the following: the interventions, treatments, options we applied for, OUR ACTIONS to cure and heal and counteract the effects, the dangerous effects we as human beings have on the biodiversity, so in the end, on the ecosystem around us seem ????

pithy is out of scope

premature is not good because from the survey we do have some conclusions about the results that in the survey we investigated. So the only word that fits here redundant

Turns out, if the results from the survey are redundant, which means they repeat or tell us what we ALREADY know, then the first blank must be C.

I.E what the survey tells us certain results. Therefore, the actions we took on biodiversity and the relative results are superfluous. We do know ALREADY from the survey.

Hope this helps
