What is the approximate ratio of energy used from oil in 1979 to energy used from oil in 2004 ?
a) \(\frac{55}{1}\)
b) \(\frac{35}{1}\)
c) \(\frac{11}{7}\)
d) \(\frac{25}{18}\)
e) \(\frac{9}{10}\)
If anyone can help with this question please. Its simple, but the book used (20,623) for 2004 calculations. I cant understand from where this number is.

Here's a slightly better graphic:
Notice that, in 1979, oil accounted for approximately 27% of the energy used.
Also notice that, in 1979, the TOTAL energy used = 18,509
So, the amount of energy used from oil in 1979 ≈ 27% of 18,509
≈ (0.27)(18,509)
≈ 5000
In 2004, oil accounted for approximately 18% of the energy used.
Also notice that, in 2004, the TOTAL energy used = 5090
So, the amount of energy used from oil in 1979 ≈ 18% of 5090
≈ (0.18)(5090)
≈ 900
What is the approximate ratio of energy used from oil in 1979 to energy used from oil in 2004 ?
Ratio = 5000/900
= 50/9
Hmmm, the correct answer is not among the answer choices...
