My understanding is that Quantity A is a number between 0 and 1, since the quantity of unmarked cards is less than the total number of cards. When it comes to Quantity B, I think that it has to be greater than 1, since (k-1) has to be less than n. The only case when Quantity B is not grater than Quantity A is when k=1 and Quantity B is undefined. Is this why the answer is D?

Because you do not know actually the exact number of the N cards and the K marked cards.
No computation you do need here. This one of those questions so-called: concept question.
