For this one, we need to know the following conversions:
1 pound = 16 ounces
$1 = 100 cents
Converting the cost of 3 pounds of cashews into cents and ounces, then, we get:
48 ounces of cashews costs 800 cents.
How much does 1 ounce cost? We divide both numbers by 48:
1 ounce of cashews costs \(\frac{800}{48} = 16.667\) cents.
9 ounces of cashews, then, will cost: \(16.667 \times 9 = 150\) cents.
1 pound = 16 ounces
