QUANTITY A: \(\frac{2x^2-72}{x-6}=\frac{2(x^2-36)}{x-6}=\frac{2(x+6)(x-6)}{x-6}=2(x+6)=2x+12\)
QUANTITY B: \(\frac{2x^2-18}{x-3}=\frac{2(x^2-9)}{x-3}=\frac{2(x+3)(x-3)}{x-3}=2(x+3)=2x+6\)
We have:
QUANTITY A: 2x + 12
QUANTITY B: 2x + 6
Subtract 2x from both quantities to get:
QUANTITY A: 12
QUANTITY B: 6

Brent, the question states that x cannot equal 6 or 3. However, is it not possible for x to equal -6 or -3, and therefore have the answer be 'D' ?
