jansen`s writing strikes many as ------(1) : for one who is capable of enduing even the most recondite topics with a(n) (2)-------- tone, his prose becomes (3)------ in the onformal correspondence he had with his contemporaries

i can not find any clue, but i assume if any sentence start with ``for` it works like despite, then 2nd blank stands acerbic for me because the topic is recondite and so third blank is realized but ans is totally diferent . moreover, enduing means investing but in this context how come investing???? plz explain someone

Enduing in this sentence to me means providing. That is not too far from investing, or giving. Recondite can mean obscure. The sense is that Jansen’s writing is paradoxical. He can give an obscure topic a breezy tone, but his informal correspondence is stilted. “For” in this sentence has no connection with “despite”. It has the meaning similar to: “For me, X is a great city”. Breezy contrast with stilted in a way that acerbic does not. Acerbic can mean bitter.
