In a certain class, 5/12 of all the students are girls [#permalink]
1
Let there be 12 students (12 being the LCM of 4 and 12, the denominators of the two fractions in the problem)

\(\frac{5}{12}\) of all the students are girls

So, \(5\) students are all girls

\(\frac{1}{4}\) of all the students are girls who take Spanish

So, \(\frac{1}{4} \times 1 = 3\) students are girls who take Spanish

\(\text{ The fraction of the girls take Spanish }=\frac{\text{ Number of girls who take Spanish }}{\text{ Total number of girls }} = \frac{3}{5}\)

The answer is D.
