If you use the answer choices, the only possible value is D =1

Substitute 1 and in the end, you will have 3/3=1 which turns out is D

The others do not work. The question is correct as it is typed.

How can you cancel m if there is a 1 in addition to the denominator?

If \(\frac{3}{\frac{m + 1}{m} + 1} = 1\), then m must equal

\(3 = \frac{m + 1}{m} + 1\)
\(2 = \frac{m + 1}{m}\)
\(2m = m + 1\)
m = 1
