The mistake some students will make here is to ASSUME this is a right triangle.
However, since we're not explicitly told that we have a right triangle, we cannot assume this is the case.
Instead, we must apply this an important rule that says..
If two sides of a triangle have lengths A and B, then . . .
DIFFERENCE between A and B < length of third side < SUM of A and B
When applied to the above diagram, we can write: 4 - 3 < x < 4 + 3
In other words, 1 < x < 7
So, for example, x COULD equal 2, in which case Quantity B is greater
Or x COULD equal 6, in which case Quantity A is greater
Or x COULD equal 5, in which case the quantities are equal
Answer: D
