GIVEN: \((3x + 1)(2x – 2) = 6x^2 – 10\)
Use FOIL to expand the left side to get: \(6x^2 - 6x + 2x - 2 = 6x^2 – 10\)
Simplify the left side to get: \(6x^2 - 4x – 2 = 6x^2 – 10\)
Subtract \(6x^2\) from both sides to get: \(-4x – 2 = –10\)
Add \(2\) to both sides to get: \(-4x = –8\)
Divide both sides by -4 to get: \(x = \frac{–8}{-4}=2\)
We get:
Quantity A: 2
Quantity B: 2
Answer: C

\((3x + 1)(2x - 2) = 6x^2 - 10\)
By distributing the terms on the Left Hand Side of the Equation using FOIL
\(6x^2 - 6x + 2x - 2 = 6x^2 - 10\)
cancelling \(6x^2\) on both sides
\(-6x + 2x - 2 = -10\)
adding like terms
\(-4x = -10 + 2\)
\(-4x = -8\)
solving for x,
\(x = \frac{-4}{-8}\)
\(x = 2\)
Therefore,
Both Quantities are EQUAL
The answer is C.
