Lets say initially the number of boys and girls invited to the party were x. Then,
after 5 additional boys came in the ration became x+5/x.
Accorrding to the question \(\frac{x+5}{x}\) = \(\frac{5}{4}\)
solve the eqn for x
\(4(x+5) = 5x\)
or, \(4x + 20 = 5x\)
or, \(20 = x\)
Therefore initially 20+20 = 40 people were invited to the party.
