Clearly, you are doing what ETS wants from all the students: attacking the question brute force and waste time. Moreover, the first way is more prone to errors than logic and a clear strategy.

An official question, even the most difficult, always have a sort of short cut that permits you to gain time and mental energy for the next tough question.

There is always an alternative and faster approach to the question in front of you.

Try to read this meanwhile https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/the-defin ... -8898.html and this https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/gre-quant ... 10440.html

And always try to learn from when you pick the wrong answer. Always you learn from your mistake more than your good pick.

Let me know you do need else.

Also, use our math book to reinforce and master your quant skills. They are directly proportional to your confidence in solving a question

the tips are beneficial, I am trying to practice them. But there are some questions I know how to solve them but I couldn't link them to exact strategy. is that okay ?

it depends.

It depends on the kind of problem in front of you.

Cases in which as soon as see the problem and read the stem you already know how to attack it, maybe your mind suddenly elaborates some sort of short-cut or trick.

Sometimes you pick numbers and find a way to solve it but before you didn't, a way is opening in front of you. And you go straight to the right solution.

Sometimes you pick numbers and you end in a blind road and you have to prepare to switch to the fastest lane, having a backup strategy. The first one didn't work or is time-consuming.

The scenarios are vast.

Sorry, my fault. Due to lack of time I did not jot down yet my guide for the verbal part of the test.

My biggest advice, though, is to read very carefully the sentence and see what is the real gist of the problem and the meaning conveyed by the sentence.

memorize vocabulary words is a waste of time in my opinion.

I hope I helped you. Feel free to ask further assistance

Why do you think memorizing is a waste of time? if I understand the sentence and don't know the meaning of the words I loose the question.

No.

If you do grasp very strongly the meaning of the question, you can always come up with the possible word solution even though you do not know THAT word. At least an educated guess.

The other way around is not true :)
