We know from the sentence that the special effects, unlike the story, continue to evolve. Therefore my own word for the second blank is unevolving. Only
exhausted can produce a similar meaning and so
F is the correct choice for the second blank. Clearly if the special effects are evolving, then they must be
exciting and definitely not
predictable or
juvenile. There is nothing to suggest
juvenile, though it may be the personal opinion of some, and also
juvenile has a negative connotation that is not implied by the paragraph.Since the special effects are exciting, and unfamiliar (unlike the story which would be awfully unfamiliar) they would
hold us in thrall.
