My question isn't answered. Why plug in numbers didn't work when we substitute 1/2 ?
If plug in doesn't work here pls clarify

I tried to solve this by plugin numbers but when I tried to take x=1/2
y^2=-3/4 which doesn't exist.
May someone clarify pls?

You're correct.
When If x = 1/2, then it turns out that y² = -3/4, which is impossible.
So, this tells us that x = 1/2 cannot be a solution to the original equation.

So, perhaps we should choose a different number to test.
