In how many ways can the letters of the word MAXIMA be arranged such that all vowels are together?

(C) 30

I believe the answer to this one is 18.
there are double letters in both so we can write them in form ABB. Which has 3 forms. We can also put either vowels or consonants first (2 more combinations)

Vowel letters have to be together. So possible arrangements,
_ _ _ _ => E.g 1 occurence MAIAXM
As, M has been repeated twice this can be arranged in 4!/2! ways ((total number of letters)!/(number of repeats)!) Similarly for each of the (4!/2!) ways, AIA can be arranged in (3!/2!) ways ---> Permutation for repeated items So, It can be arranged in (4!/2!)*(3!/2!) = 36

Thus we have 2*3*3 = 18
So B.
It has not been mentioned that the consonants have to together too.
