This a bad formulation of an official GRE ETS question.

The line U --- S is a bisector and the properties of this bisector (RS=ST) make angle RSU and STU equal to each other. So, the answer is C

2 sides are equal, hence the two angles are equal. AAS congruency. Congruent Triangles have equal area.
