Actually (ii) means they wanna scare people but indeed the simulacrum is safe.
simulacrum :an image or representation of someone or something.

Hope now is clear to you.

1. The part of the sentence related to blank(i) is:
These patrons want not danger

2. This suggests “peril” is being avoided

3. The part of the sentence related to blank(ii) is:
These patrons want not danger but its (ii) _________, a ride that (iii) _________ but is in fact perfectly safe.

4. This suggests they want something similar to rides that are not dangerous but very thrilling. The word that best fits is “simulacrum” meaning similar.

5. The part of the sentence related to blank(i) is:
a ride that (iii) _________ but is in fact perfectly safe.

This suggests the blank word should be something that has some negative connotation as danger but also the positive connotation of safety. “terrifies” best fits.

6. Answer: A,E,I

Thank you for the clear explanation.
