Hello Carcass

Could you please help with an explanation of the third blank?

I still don't understand why is he explaining it universally, I chose exclusivity because he is saying each of them are different.

Kind regards!

I choose exclusivity first, but what i feel is in the first sentences we are talking about universality, thats why third blank also goes with this .

Hi!

Let me try helping you.

Focus on first part of the sentence.

As Shipton makes clear, there has never been a single ―authentic‖ style of jazz conclusively superior to all others. Louis Armstrong is the only figure whose stylistic innovations achieved anything like Universal currency,

This means, according to shipton, none of the styles of jazz were superior/exclusive. And then the clue accordinly indicates that the second sentence if louis's music is universal, then
he described the music accordingly

Thus, for the third blank, we can ignore exclusive as we need the blank to be on the same lines and not opposite.

Hope this helps!
