1. This seems a good question to improve our text completion skills. The first blank requires a positive tone and hence only "universal" fits here.
2. The second blank requires something that is not "overlapping series of stylistic movements"; hence, interwoven is out. While divergent places stylistic movements in parallel, "linear" makes the context opposite to overlap and hence the latter suits well.
3. The third blank is the trickiest. While it requires a positive tone, there is a contention between exclusivity and catholicity. Having understood the earlier sentences well, we can say that it should support universal currency. Hence, only "catholicity" fits here well.

I still don't understand why is he explaining it universally, I chose exclusivity because he is saying each of them are different.
