Re: The average (arithmetic mean) of the two numbers 3x and 3y i [#permalink]
Given that The average (arithmetic mean) of the two numbers 3x and 3y is 48.

============================================================

Theory
    ‣‣‣ Average or Arithmetic Mean = (Sum Of All The Numbers) / (Total Number Of Numbers)

============================================================

=> \(\frac{3x + 3y}{2}\) = 48
=> x + y = 16*2 = 32

Quantity A: The average (arithmetic mean) of the two numbers 2x and 2y

=> Average of 2x + 2y = \(\frac{2x + 2y}{2}\) = x + y = 32

Clearly, Quantity A(32) > Quantity B(30)

So, Answer will be A.
Hope it helps!
